Born 25th July 1946 in Beckenham, Kent.

Educated at Dulwich College 1956-63.

Married Susan Wood in 1970. Two children.

Hobbies: golf, supporting Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors, gardening.

Management trainee at Car Mart (latterly Kennings), London, 1964-69.

Joined leading north west funeral director, Middleton & Wood of Wigan in 1969. Chairman and Managing Director 1974-86. Built up business to 2800 funerals p.a. with 9 branches in Lancashire. Outside shareholders sold company to Ingall Industries in 1983 and I departed in 1986 after House of Fraser bought Ingalls.

Chairman National Selected Morticians, European Group, 1977.

Joined Jno. Steel, Winchester as Finance and Admin Director in 1987. Returned to Wigan in 1989.

Joined Hodgson Holdings as Regional Manager (North West) in March 1989. Promoted to Property Services Director on amalgamation with Kenyons in August 1989. Made redundant in1992 when division was axed by incoming CEO (Peter Hindley!!).

Started own consultancy in 2002 and worked immediately with SAIF as their representative on NAFD Executive Committee and shortly after assisted Golden Charter. Have subsequently built up client base throughout the UK and assists on any funeral related matters.

Set up own funeral director’s business in Wigan in November 1983.

Rejoined SAIF Executive in 2002 and am currently Honorary Treasurer and Chairman of the Standards Committee.
