There are currently two trade associations representing Funeral Directors. Members of all of these associations require their members to provide clients with written estimates and price lists. They will also provide (if required), a basic funeral however this will not cover things like church or crematorium fees, flowers, following cars or embalming. These associations are

The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF)

Established in 1989 with a membership covering around a 1000 funeral homes. The only organisation which represents, solely, the truely Independent Funeral Director. What is SAIF?

National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD)

Established on 1905, formerly the British Undertakers Association, this was until the mid 1980's the principal trade association in the funeral profession.
